Description

A savory and sweet twist on classic sausage balls, these Blueberry Muffin Sausage Balls combine the flavors of juicy blueberries and savory sausage in a delightful bite-sized appetizer or breakfast treat.

Ingredients

1 pound ground breakfast sausage
2 cups self-rising biscuit mix
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup fresh blueberries, gently rinsed and patted dry
1/2 cup whole milk
1 large egg
1 tablespoon honey

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground breakfast sausage, self-rising biscuit mix, and shredded sharp cheddar cheese. Mix well until evenly combined.
In a separate small bowl, whisk together the whole milk, large egg, and honey until smooth.
Pour the milk mixture into the sausage mixture and stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Gently fold in the fresh blueberries, taking care not to crush them.
Using your hands, form the mixture into 1-inch diameter balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
Bake in the preheated oven for 18 to 20 minutes, or until the sausage balls are cooked through and golden brown on the outside.
Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
